Food & nutrition help, in plain language.
This page is for anyone managing diabetes — or cooking for someone who is. Nothing here requires special ingredients or a strict diet. We're building this out as our partnerships grow; here's where it stands today.
As donated foods start flowing through specific partner pantries, we'll pair them with plain-language labels and recipes adapted from a range of cultural cooking traditions — not a single "diet food" template. This section will grow alongside our partnerships, and any specific food or recipe guidance will be reviewed before it's published here.
A few general starting points
Reading a label, simply
Three things to glance at — added sugar (lower is better), fiber (higher is better), and portion size (the numbers are per serving, not per package).
Pace, not perfection
Pairing a carbohydrate-heavy food with some protein or fiber (beans, nuts, vegetables) can help smooth out how it affects blood sugar — small, practical adjustments rather than cutting foods out entirely.
Ask your care team first
This page is general information, not medical advice — any specific diabetes management plan should come from your doctor or a dietitian.
More resources are coming as our partnerships grow. Get in touch if you'd like to help build this section — especially if you're a registered dietitian or nutrition educator.
